Creating a Home Office with Your Signature Style

In today’s fast paced high tech world, working from home is the “new normal”.  Turn working at home into a stylish experience whether you have a room or a designated space in your home.  Begin by thinking through your needs and how you will be using the space.  Make a list of things you’ll need to create your home office:  desk, storage, seating, internet and telephone, lighting and a bulletin board. Then, decide how you are going to use the space, for instance, will you meet with clients (you may need extra seating), or do you need an area to layout and assemble projects.  These things will help you decide how to layout your work area.

After you have done all the groundwork, now the fun begins…decorating!  There are many ways to add style to your home office.  Bring bold color and pattern into the space with a funky rug or paint stripes on the wall to add interest.  Use fun accessories like colorful ceramic bowls, cups or vases to corral your office supplies (pens, pencils, paper clips). You can find some fun and classic office supplies and tech items at The Office Stylist.

While overhead lighting provides general illumination, hang pendant lighting on either side of your computer area to use as task lighting.  Utilize your vertical space with bookshelves and line the back of the bookshelves with bold wrapping or wallpaper.

Shake up your home office and give it a boost of creativity, this is a space where you make things happen.  Make it a space you will love to work in every day.  Give it your signature style!  Check out a few of our favorites we found around the web.
