Crispy Lemon Pepper Wings Recipe
Servings: 4–6 | Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 20 min
Total Time: 35 min
Ingredients:
For the Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings, flats and drumettes
- 1 packet Louisiana Seasoned Crispy Chicken Fry Batter Mix
- 1 cup cold water
- Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Lemon Pepper Butter Sauce:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Wings:
Rinse and pat dry the chicken wings. In a large bowl, mix the batter packet with 1 cup of cold water until smooth. Toss wings in the wet batter, making sure each piece is well coated.
2. Fry the Wings:
Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry wings in batches for 8–10 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove and drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
3. Make the Lemon Pepper Sauce:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, lemon pepper seasoning, and garlic powder. Let simmer for 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat.
4. Toss & Serve:
Place the fried wings in a large mixing bowl and pour the lemon pepper butter sauce over them. Toss until fully coated. Serve immediately.
Tips for Serving:
- Pair with ranch or blue cheese dip and cold drinks.
- Keep wings warm in a 200°F oven if making in batches.
- Add a pinch of cayenne to the sauce if you like a little heat.
