DIY Noise Makers for Your New Year’s Party
I was inspired by the noisemakers Kimberly Sneed, craft blogger on A Night Owl, made for a new year’s celebration. Click here to see her concept. The idea is to use things you may have leftover from Christmas or around the house. She used glitter paint on the craft sticks, I’m using a peel and stick vinyl on my craft sticks. You can use wrapping paper or pre-printed copy paper, as well. With these types of paper, you can use white glue to adhere to the craft sticks.
So, let’s get started crafting and have a Happy New Year!
PROJECT SUPPLIES
The supplies can be found at your local dollar store, craft store or you can also click the links below to order from Amazon:
- Wavy craft sticks
- Silver and gold jingle bells (large or small or a combination of both)
- Curling ribbon (black, gold, silver, white, or whatever you desire)
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Peel & stick vinyl paper
- Scissors and/or mat knife
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Layout peel and stick paper with the bottom side up.
- Trace an outline of the craft stick with a pen or pencil.
- Cut along the outline.
- Peel the backing off and attach it to the stick.
- Take each color of curling ribbon and thread it through the hole on the top of the bell. Then tie them in a knot.
- Carefully hot glue the top of one jingle bell to the top of the vinyl-covered craft stick and hold it in place until dry. Then do the same with the other bell below the first bell. Make sure you keep the ends of the curling ribbon away from the hot glue.
- After the glue has dried, take the scissors and glide the edge down the ribbon to make the curl. Click here for a video on curling ribbon.
VOILA! Your very own custom noisemakers for your guest to ring in the new year. These are also a great idea for party favors your guest can take with them.
